Giants: The Ins and Outs of News BroadcastingStudents in the Giants cohort are learning to create their own student-run news broadcast and are exploring the roles of news anchors, camera people, scriptwriters, directors, and producers. Small groups of students work together to read news articles, summarize important information, and create scripts. In order to practice and refine their presentation skills, students role-play news broadcasts. News segments are then recorded and reviewed in order to increase self-reflection and editing skills. Stories and events that impact or affect the SKILLs community are chosen in order to increase the sense of community and connection among all students at SKILLs. |
