Studio Arts
Spring is here… time for some museum trips and walking tours. This semester Jamaica, Sheepshead, and Flushing cohorts are discussing Community/Public Art. These cohorts have visited The Whitney Museum and Jewish Museum(4 sessions). Last week Sheepshead Bay and Flushing Bay enjoyed a beautiful lunch in Central Park's Conservatory Garden before heading out on their "Walk Around the Block" tour with El Museo del Barrio in Spanish Harlem. On this tour they discussed neighborhoods and communities combining discussions from their Art and Literature classes. Let's Get Social!
MTA Travel Training Program
Free travel training for people who are already Access-A-Ride (AAR) customers. [If you would like to apply for AAR go to MTA's Paratransit pages]. MTA NYC Transit is fully committed to the use of buses and subways by New Yorkers with disabilities. With some training, many AAR customers who have mobility or cognitive impairments may be able to ride the bus or subway to work, school, health and recreation facilities, and the many cultural institutions for which New York is famous. This service aims to teach 1 specific route. People who are already AAR eligible can call 516.465.1502 for more information and to apply for their travel training program. https://www.yai.org/linkresource/mta-travel-training-program
