Black History Month Monday began Black History Month, and with that, our first snow day of 2021. In Humanities, the students learned about the underground railroad, Harriet Tubman, and many of the brave change-makers that helped abolish slavery. They also spent time teaching about Amanda Gorman, her poetry, and her extraordinary accomplishments at a very young age. This week during Life Skills, we played Jeopardy to review all the material we covered during the first semester (i.e., sleep routines, personal identification information, organization, relationships, etc.). Many of our students were excited about the snowstorm and all the beauty it brings. Some students were eager to tell us how they ventured out into their neighborhoods and braved the inclement weather, while others were happy to stay home and watch the snowfall from their windows. Either way, we are all happy to be back in school. Our second semester begins on Monday, February 8th. Transition's Students Watch, Learn and Reflect |
