COOKE'S COIN CAMPAIGN IS BACK!St. John’s University and Cooke Transitions Transitions students have begun their fall semester Mondays at St. John’s University’s (SJU) Queens Campus. Students attend a morning financial literacy class and an afternoon ELA class which has a focus on carbon footprints. Students attend classes in person or by Zoom. SJU students join our students in class as peers. We look forward to another successful semester as students get to know they’re new teachers and adapt to their new environment and schedules. School Supply Shopping & other math outings! Students in all cohorts went school supply shopping with their math classes the first few weeks of school. Before going out into the community, students used Google Maps and other navigational tools to find stores near Transitions where they could purchase supplies. During these trips, students practiced budgeting, comparing prices, and collecting the right amount of change if they used cash. Students also practiced navigating safely in the community and locating safe people. If students brought in their own supplies, they were still able to practice finding different prices for items and identified which was cheaper/ more expensive. Students had a great time exploring stores around Transitions! RESOURCES AND UPCOMING EVENTSClick HERE to register and for information about the meeting's WebEx.
