In Recreation Therapy students have been eager to get outside for classic games of kickball, basketball, and group exercises. The warmer weather has been a welcomed change! Please remember to support students in dressing appropriately for physical activity and warmer weather on the days they have recreation thearpy. Students can bring extra clothes to change into as well as leave a hygeine kit (i.e. deoderant, extra socks) at school as an option. Also, closed toed shoes are preffered! This semester we've also had some cohorts join each other outdoors to exercise and socialize together. Students have been great sports at including each other, making sure everyone gets a turn, and cheering each other on! Student's have been able to say hi to old friends and makes new ones along the way. Fitness Day Greetings families! On Wednesday, April 13th, both students and staff were thrilled to participate in Fitness Day! Many activities that took place included enjoying a healthy lunch buffet, learning about fitness and nutrition through games, nature walks, Just Dance, mindfulness Yoga, and even a high intensity workout led by instructors from Barry’s Bootcamp. Not only were many of these activities fun, they also provided an opportunity for students to interact with their peers and friends from other cohorts. As you can tell by the pictures below, many students had a great time and had some fun participating in the healthy activities! Lastly, speaking on behalf of the entire staff, we were all very proud of the students having a productive and fun-filled Fitness day!! Please feel free to take a look at the many pictures and moments from this eventful day! Food and Social Justice In their Mindful Nutrition classes, students have been exploring how food, social justice and advocacy are all related. They have learned how they can be great neighbors to others, even if they live very far away in another country. Students worked with staff to organize and prepare a Bake Sale to raise funds to support displaced families in the Ukraine. They had fun executing recipes in the kitchen that still catered to dietary needs while allowing for some tasty desserts. Their excitement was palpable as they clamored to try the treats prepared by all classes, knowing that their contributions were going to a good cause. Enjoy some of the pictorial highlights below of their preparations and the big day! Alumni Association SAVE THE DATE: Registration for the next bowling event opens on May 4th at 12pm!
