Big Mask News! It is expected today that Mayor Adams will change the school mask mandate to optional beginning on Monday, March 7. This week we have spent time in classes discussing this change and how it will bring different feelings for each student. Our counseling and nursing team will continue to provide support to our students. HERE are slides we shared in school, that may help families to continue this discussion in your home. Scavenger Hunts & Bank Trips In Real World Math, students have begun their unit on business. In class, students are learning about the difference between goods, services, wants, needs and consumers and producers. Students have been able to connect these concepts to their internships, personal interests, and the preferred activities they do outside of school. Students participated in a fun scavenger hunt around Transitions to find different businesses that sell various goods and services. In small groups, they worked together to find the prices for these goods and services and compared them. In addition to scavenger hunts, students continue to take bi-weekly trips to the bank to deposit internship paychecks and check their balances. With spring approaching and warmer weather upon us, classes have also been able to sit outside after completing activities to enjoy the sunshine! Forum In forum students have been discussing the importance of consent. Students have been able to define what consent is and what consent is not. Through scenarios that play out real life situations, and interactive kahoot games, students have enjoyed learning about such an important topic! Yearbook Cover Contest!!! |
